There were 16,962 housing units at an average density of 209.2/km² (541.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 81.62% White, 0.82% Black or African American, 0.94% Native American, 1.69% Asian, 1.55% Pacific Islander, 11.09% from other races, and 2.29% from two or more races. 19.66% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 16,149 households out of which 38.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.2% were married couples living together, 10.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.6% were non-families. 22.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
